Sometimes I just want to play single-deck blackjack online at Xgtiger. As a novice card-counter, I dread games with only one deck in the shoe. For one thing, the deck is often read after each hand. For another, the games usually follow a 6-5 blackjack payout which really ruins the player’s odds.
The bet range isn’t ideal for a card-counter, either. But besides everything – when I decide that I want to play a game like this, there’s really nothing else to do.
Single-deck blackjack is ideal for several reasons:

To that end, I’ve reviewed every Vegas game (that I know of or can find through research) that uses only one deck of cards and pays 3:2 for player blackjack.
Single-Deck Blackjack Games in Las Vegas
My research and experience revealed five such games that are regularly played in the gambling capital of the world. Vegas has more deck options than East Coast casinos, but only a few I’ve heard you’ll find in Tunica and other Southern gaming areas.
kay Binion
Opened in 1951 by famous Texas gambler Benny Binion, this place was first called the Horseshoe Club. It was actually the first real “gambling hall” in Vegas. You can’t miss Binion’s – it takes up an entire block of Fremont Street. The Horseshoe Club is where poker became famous. It is also the traditional home of the World Series of Poker, though that event has moved since its inception.
The table at Binion’s is a good representation of every single deck game in America. Bets have a standard range for this table – a minimum of $10 and a maximum of $500. Not much to say here, except that I play at Binion’s more than anywhere else simply because of the simple rules. There are no restrictions on doubling or splitting as far as I can remember.
El Cortez
Once owned by actual mobsters, El Cortez is another part of old-school Vegas that still does bang-up business in the gambling world. It is the oldest continuously open downtown casino in all of Vegas. Opened in 1941, it is the beating heart of Fremont.
The Cortez has the distinct distinction of offering two different single-deck options. The only difference between the games is the betting range. A table has a $5 – $500 range, which is common in Vegas blackjack games. But the casino also has a $25 – $1,000 table that also uses a set of cards.
Hooters
The old San Remo Hotel and Casino has finally been converted into Hooter’s. It’s hard to say much about a new property. We don’t know much about Hooters yet, except that they have generally-very-bad blackjack rules at their tables.
The table betting range at Hooter ranges from $10 – $500, a slight variation from the Vegas standard. The big knock on the Hooters blackjack game – that their tables are about 6:5 payout for blackjack and that they use modified single-deck rules for shoe games – is real. But I think their single-deck table is worth a visit, if only for the 3:2 payout.
Silverton
This is one of the unique casino properties in Nevada that is almost as simple as playing in an online casino. Silverton is located off I-15, attached to a huge Bass Pro Shop store. Yes, it’s a traditional full-service Vegas hotel and casino, and it’s popular with locals. The casino is 90,000 square feet – but that’s nothing compared to 165,000 sq. ft. Bass Pro Shop store. Don’t dismiss the casino because of the dumb store, though – they have some decent games.
My only complaint about Silverton’s non-shoe game is that players can only double on 10 or 11. That rule affects the house edge, making it almost twice as high as similar games. in El Cortez. The allowed betting range is the standard $5 – $500 found anywhere in Las Vegas.
